Parents nowadays listens too much to their children. Thus, their children will become too demanding. However, if you decide to let them choose their own party theme cake decorations, that won't be the case. On the other hand, you should let your child be involved during the preparation stage so they will appreciate their party more.

If you think that you will end up with a lot of task to complete, then you are mistaken. All you need is careful planning and a little creativity. Here are some of things you may need to do:

1. Decide on a theme.

2. How many people will be at the party will determine the size of the cake.

3. Where will you get your cake from? The baker's or will you bake your own?

4. You can decide whether you are going to buy the décor for the cake that fits the theme or use the things you can find at home.

5. Don't forget the birthday party candles for the birthday cake.

Are you getting all worried on the theme to select? Actually, this should be the easiest part; simply consult your child. If it does not sound right or doable for you, your child probably has some more in their imagination to share with you, if only you ask. That is the great thing about children; they are never short of ideas.

Knowing the total of the guests that will be coming to the party is crucial. You might miss this one important detail. You can then decide on the size of the cake and the decoration that goes on top of it. The last thing you want is a cake that looks bare or a cake that is a complete mess. Bigger cakes are always best because they are flexible. With the planning going so well, you would be compelled to invite more people.

Are you into baking? If so, baking a cake would be more flexible. However, if you are not a baker you should just opt for a bakery's cake. Nevertheless, exercise your rights by browsing through some potential cake designs. Complement the party's theme with a matching cake.

Decorating for the cake is the best part. You can fool around as much as you can. You can use your own material for decoration or purchase them. Its up to you whether you want the décors to be foodstuffs or not.

Cookies can be molded into almost anything. Have fun with them by shaping them into shapes that will fit the theme. You can also use cotton candies and if you are making snowman for instance, you can use edible color creams to draw the face. These creams can do more than that, in fact you can use them to almost draw anything on the face of your cake. Apart from these edible stuffs, you can also get little toys (which are already around at your home) to decorate your cake with. They will add more fun to the cake.

Last but not least, don't forget to get birthday party candles too. Speaking of candles, there are quite a few choices to have. The most common ones are the little candles that you put into the cake to signify the person's age. Another kind of birthday party candles are the ones that play the birthday tune when lit up. This can take quite a simple form of a candle or a more animated one, such as the one which petals actually opens up one by one when it is lit.
